Why is Texas So Hot?

With weeks of 100+ degree weather, we thought it was time to bring in our friend, Avery Tomasco, Meteorologist for CBS Austin. As a 2-time Emmy winner, you can feel the passion Avery has for all things Texas weather related, keeping Austinites well informed and prepared. As a true “weather nerd”, he is able to set himself apart from the rest. He has a unique take on broadcasting the weather not only on TV, but also on social media.

We put Avery in the hot seat to see if he can give us an idea of what the rest of the summer will look like and what patterns we can expect.

First Off: What’s The Difference Between La Nina and El Nino?

La Nina: When we’re experiencing La Nina, it is cooler sea-surface temperatures across the east-central equatorial Pacific.

El Nino: In El Nino, we experience above-average sea-surface temperatures that develop across the east-central equatorial Pacific.

El Nino came too late for us this summer and we are now experiencing record temperatures this summer. This is due to the sea surface temperatures warming up and adding more fuel to the fire…or Texas heat.

With Crazy Weather Swings, What Should Your Travel Plans Look Like?

Texas weather is generally unpredictable, with temperatures fluctuating day to day. As El Nino approaches, we are expecting these hot days to continue for weeks to come. So what does this mean for your travel plans? Well, the higher the elevation, the cooler you’re temperatures will be.

New to camping or just starting your RV shopping journey? If you plan to camp in various weather conditions, it’s important to consider a 4-season trailer. This will ensure the interior of your RV will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Not only that, but a 4-season trailer is meant to handle different weather so your trailer will stay looking new for years to come. Things to look out for include dual-pane windows, a heated underbelly, ducted heating system, and of course, that 4-season sticker.
