The Culture of ‘Get Your Kicks on Route 66’

Whichever version of the song is your best, it all started with Bobby Troupe when he sang it first, ‘Get your kicks on Route 66. Greats such as Nat King Kole followed suite with newer and faster interpretations, seeming to follow the increased speed of cars across America. As a cultural icon, more than just a song, but included in books, movies, and all medium of artistic inclusion whenever the need for a classic diner, greasy spoon or odd amusement park or theme attraction made an appearance.

From the Start of Route 66

Whether you know it as U.S. Route 66, some call it the the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, and we learned it was one of the original highways in the U.S.!
