Personalizing your RV is one of the best ways to make your rig feel like home away from home. PJ, Lindsay, and Clint sit down to go over a few of their favorite ways to personalize their campers.

Paint + Wall Paper

Painting different parts of your RV is a quick and easy way to add your own style. There are endless reasons why you want to paint your camper – maybe to cover up past damage or add a warm and cozy environment. While the task may seem daunting, it doesn’t have to be. In fact, this is a great way to express yourself and show off your unique style!

Before you start, make sure to tape up edges, remove blinds, sockets, and anything else that might be hanging on your walls. Once you have bare walls, make sure to apply a primer. This ensures your paint will stay looking fresh, longer.

Take it to the next level with wallpaper. Adding wallpaper will enhance your space, making even Architectural Digest swoon. There are many peel-and-stick options when it comes to wallpaper, making it easier to put up and take down.

When all else fails, you can hire a professional to go in and paint different areas in your RV!

Backsplash

There are loads of options out there when it comes to the backsplash. An alternative to the traditional backsplash would be the popular peel-and-stick panels out there. This option is just one Amazon order away from creating your dream kitchen!

Cabinets

The cabinets in your RV are likely to get a little scuffed or scratched over the years due to the heavy traffic they most likely encounter. Don’t fret, you have multiple options out there! Without tearing your cabinets out and completely starting from scratch, you can spiff up what you already had, like painting as mentioned above. If you just need to touch up a few spots, try using a pen stain or Sharpie to cover up any scratches. To give your cabinets more character, you can glue rattan weaving to the center or even give your cabinets a fluted trim.

Hardware

One of our favorites is adding hardware to your cabinets and drawers. This again, is another quick and easy way to elevate your RV and make it feel like your home away from home. Additionally, adding hooks to your walls for keys, towels, etc. will give you extra counter and storage space throughout the RV. There are so many options out there, the possibilities are truly endless for this personalization!

Fixtures

Simply changing out the lighting or faucets within your space can bring more personality and luxury into your camper. Often, your faucet will be one of the most used items in your camper. So why not get exactly what you want? You can use a regular residential kitchen faucet in your RV. However, make sure to double-check your hookups to see if you’ll need any additional adaptors. Some of our favorite-looking fixtures in travel trailers are the new R-Pods by Forest River. They used brushed bronze throughout the trailer which provides a modern and cozy interior.

Lighting fixtures can significantly transform the interior of your camper. You can find many 12V chandelier options out there making it an easy swap.

Flooring

Whether you want to remove the carpet or update the color of your flooring, it is possible! Adhesive vinyl flooring will be your best friend when tackling this project. It lays nicely and is easy to cut.

Décor

Fill your new rig with things you love! Pillows, throws, floor runners, memorabilia, etc. There are so many DIY tutorials out there on how to make your own awnings, curtains, and anything else you can dream up!

Miscellaneous

  • Adding new seating
  • Upgrading your RV mattress
  • Removing the beds from your bunkhouse for additional storage
  • Outdoor private shower
  • Exterior Decals
  • DIY Awnings

Remember, this camper is YOURS! You have the freedom to decorate however you want, so have fun with it.
