In this episode of the RV Small Talk Podcast, we’re diving into the ways RV manufacturer and dealer relationships can impact RV buyers. How do you decide which manufacturer to go with? What are some questions you should ask your salesperson? We’re discussing these questions and so much more!

RV Dealer and Manufacturer Relationships

Unlike an auto dealership, an RV dealer can carry multiple brands and lines from different manufacturers. Because of this, there are different rules that apply to the ways an RV dealership can carry specific products. For example, two dealerships that are next door to each other can’t carry the same product line. However, they can have the same manufacturer on their lot, but it must be a different style RV. This could be something as simple as different exterior graphics.

Working with different manufacturers makes building relationships with the individual reps for these companies extremely valuable. Being able to reach out to an individual person at each manufacturer helps not only the dealership but also the customer. If we need to know the size or height of a certain aspect of an RV, these relationships with the manufacturers come into play. We can easily work with them and get answers right on the spot for a customer. In addition, we’ll get feedback from customers or even have our own feedback for manufacturers, and having that good relationship helps us advocate for what we’re hearing at the dealership.

How Do you Know Which Manufacturer Your RV Dealer Has A Good Relationship With?

Simply put, ask your sales rep at the RV dealership. In addition, you can ask the service coordinator for their thoughts. They will have knowledge on which manufacturers have parts readily available, who is typically responsive, and so much more! At the end of the day, you are backed with options to ensure you pick the right RV/travel trailer for your needs.
