Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of the bass, perch, catfish, and more in the lake. Additionally, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department offer fishing rods and tackle boxes on loan, and no license required.

Just an hour northwest of Austin, this Hill Country gem has a little something for anyone looking to camp in Texas! Inks lake features 9 miles of hiking trails for nature enthusiasts and includes a bird blind that you can peak into. Need space for the entire crew? They have multiple options for group sites ranging from 25-100 people.
During the hot summer months, take advantage of their lake activities, including paddle boats, conoes, sink and double kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards. And when you’re looking to unwind, you can swim and fish right by your campsite.
Plus, you’re just a quick hike away from the Devil’s Waterhole. You might even catch some scenic waterfalls just upstream of the lake!
Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Located 25 miles from downtown Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon is a must see when visiting the Texas Panhandle. With more than 16 miles of paved road, Palo Duro Canyon State Park features amazing scenic views, historical sites, and miles of trails for you to explore. Surrounding the state park are several options when it comes to staying overnight. They have sites for tent campers as well as sites with 20 and 30-amp hookups for your RV. Plus, the Public restroom and showers offer additional amenities during your stay.
In 1933, the Civilian Conservation Corps built amenities in the state park that allow you to enjoy even more of the Palo Duro Canyon. The Canyon Gallery & Visitor Center features a large window that overlooks the canyon. Plus, the center is filled with historical videos, along with archeological and nature exhibits. Make sure to browse the handmade pottery, jewelry, hunting knives, hats, and shirts available for purchase!

Padre Island National Seashore has 66 miles of wild coastline along the Gulf of Mexico and is home to one of the last coastal prairie habitats in the US. Open year roud, this ground is first come first serve, no reservation needed or accepted.
Pedernales Falls State Park
30 miles west of Austin, you’ll be surrounded by nature filled with large slabs of limestone and sounds of the calming river that runs through. With options for day passes or even overnight stays, The Perdernales Falls State Park is a quick and easy getaway in central Texas!
Big Bend National Park
