If you’re a Truck Camper enthusiast, chances are you’ve heard of Truck Camper Magazine and/or Gordon and Angela. We were thrilled to have them back on our RV Small Talk Podcast, and to have them in attendance at our Truck Camper Rally in Texas last week. In addition to Gordon and Angela, they do travel with their CEO/Cat, Cosmo – who made an extra special appearance on our Podcast.
Why a Truck Camper?
There are two main reasons we’ve found that people buy truck campers. Either you want to tow something or you want the convenience of being able to park/go anywhere.
Truck Camper magazine released a poll asking their readers why they chose a truck camper over a travel trailer or motorhome, and they found 3 commonalities with their answers that align with this thought. They want to camp anywhere, go anywhere, and tow anything.
Truck campers are perfect for people with an active lifestyle, whether it be fishing, racing, or all the things in between. You’ll find all sorts of truck campers out there that feature triple slides, fireplaces, king beds, and so much more! It’s everything you need in a more compact, minimalistic package!
Why the price?
With only 3% of RVers in a truck camper, the price tends to be higher than your regular travel trailer. That’s simply due to demand. Because fewer people are in truck campers, fewer parts are being made, meaning they are harder to come by. Therefore, the cost goes up. Also, the engineering behind a truck camper is truly fascinating. This type of camper must be manufactured to fit all different types of tow trucks while remaining structurally sound, and, of course, functional.
